About Brianna Shaffer & Play Your Part Music
I'm Brianna Shaffer, the founder and heart behind Play Your Part, Inc. The name “Play Your Part” came from an anonymous quote on a necklace given to me at my high school graduation: “Life’s a symphony, play your part.” Inspired by this quote, I have focused on a career path that would enable me to use the universal language of music as a tool to help people learn, grow, and achieve success.
My Story
I grew up in Laguna Niguel in a home filled with music. My mom was always singing, playing, and encouraging creativity, and that sense of joy and expression shaped who I am. My brother, Chris, who has spinabifida, has been inspirational in many ways. He taught me about awareness, support, kindness, and compassion. From a young age I saw how powerful music could be for connection, comfort, and communication. Those early experiences sparked my lifelong love for music and my passion for using it to support and uplift others.
I graduated from Chapman University with a BA in Music Therapy and a minor in Psychology, with an emphasis in piano performance, and completed my music therapy internship at MusicWorx, Inc. in La Jolla in partnership with Scripps Hospital.
I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Teren (who I met in band at ANHS back in 2003), have two children, two dogs, and reside in Mission Viejo. I love to travel, oil paint, do house projects, and go to the beach.
About Play Your Part
Play Your Part, Inc., founded in 2013, is built on the foundation of inclusion and early childhood development. We specialize in serving families and children ages 0-6 through our specialized Sound Beginnings and Let’s Play Music group classes. Our comprehensive offerings also include, private piano and guitar lessons, and music therapy for students with special needs, all designed to foster cognitive, social, and emotional growth within a supportive community.
