You Don’t Need Hands to Play Piano

These two women put on a spectacular show using a floor piano inside a toy store. They duet Bach’s Toccata in D and it’s very entertaining. It’s difficult to tell if either of these women were already familiar with the piano before learning this routine, but if so it would have made for much quicker learning. They most likely had to learn the song the same way someone learns it with their hands. It may look like all they have to do is memorize a sort of dance, but since all of the keys look so similar it is pretty much guaranteed that they must have some musical idea of what’s going on to avoid multiple mistakes. Many of the same practicing techniques probably transferred over such as learning the piece at a slower pace in order to be accurate and working on keeping the tempo to stay in time, especially with each other.  Who knew Bach could look so cool?
